Get Your Healthiest, Whitest Smile. Try In-Office Teeth Whitening Treatment.

Several factors like aging, smoking, and regular consumption of colored food products, coffee, or tea can cause teeth discoloration. Teeth whitening or bleaching can help remove stains and restore the natural shade of your teeth. This can be done in two different ways. You can choose to have this treatment “in-office” or at home. Most patients choose the latter as they fear the cost of professional teeth whitening. At-home teeth bleaching products are readily available over the counter. They are available as gels, strips, pens, toothpaste, and mouthwash.

The active ingredient used in teeth whitening is carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. Both of these can penetrate the enamel well to effectively remove the stains and improve the teeth’s color.

Why Choose the “In-Office” Method?

A knowledgeable and well-trained dentist performs the “in-office” method of teeth whitening. Not everyone is fit to try this procedure, and only professionals can tell whether or not you are a suitable candidate for teeth whitening.

Over the counter products mostly come with a universal tray that may not fit well in your mouth. This can cause procedural errors and leaking of the bleaching agent, which may later cause side effects including gum irritation, tooth sensitivity, and more. In an in-office method, your dentist will apply a special guard to your lips and gums to protect them against the bleaching agents.

The bleaching agents being used in an in-office method are more concentrated compared to OTC products. Dentists also use a special UV light on your teeth. This speeds up the bleaching process.

Depending on the color of your teeth after one round of bleaching, your dentist may repeat the process in order to yield your preferred result.

If in case you are more prone to sensitivity or cannot sit with your mouth open for 2 hours during an in-office treatment, your dentist may advise you to take home trays instead. But unlike OTC products, your dentist will make a mold of your teeth and use it to create customized trays. These will fit perfectly to your mouth and less likely cause side effects. You will also be given a special bleach solution. With every application, your teeth will turn whiter.

What’s More Affordable?

While the cost of an in-office treatment is more expensive than the OTC products, they give faster and better results. The chances of procedural errors are also very minimal. This is safer with little or no side effects.

Is Teeth Whitening Beneficial?

The greatest benefit of teeth whitening is that it helps boost self-esteem and confidence, improving the overall quality of life.
